Emmonak Corporation is committed to making emmonak.com accessible to every shareholder, community member, partner, and member of the public — including people who rely on assistive technology or alternative input methods.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard adopted by U.S. federal agencies under Section 508 and by most state and local governments. WCAG 2.1 AA covers keyboard operation, color contrast, alternative text, resizable text, and compatibility with assistive technologies.
This site is designed and tested with those criteria in mind. Because the web platform evolves — and because we continue to add content — we treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time certification.
Keyboard navigation
Every menu, link, form, and interactive element on this site can be reached and operated using only the keyboard. A 'Skip to main content' link appears when you press Tab from the top of any page so screen-reader and keyboard users can bypass the site navigation.
Readable typography and contrast
Body text uses a large, high-contrast typeface (DM Sans, minimum 16px) on cream and white backgrounds. Text is never conveyed by color alone. Users can zoom to 200% in modern browsers without loss of content or function.
Screen-reader compatibility
Pages are structured with semantic HTML landmarks (main, nav, footer), meaningful heading hierarchy, descriptive link and button labels, and alt text on all informative images. Forms use associated labels and inline error messages announced by assistive technology.
Motion and animation
Any animations respect the operating-system 'prefers-reduced-motion' setting. Users who prefer less motion will see static or lightly-animated alternatives.
We are transparent about where accessibility is a work in progress:
- Downloadable shareholder forms distributed as PDF are structured for accessibility, with tagged headings, form fields, and reading order. If any specific PDF is not usable with your assistive technology, contact us at the email below and we will provide an accessible version by return email or by mail.
- The interactive Alaska map on our Government Contracting page is not the primary source of any information — every piece of content shown in the map is also available as text on the same page.
- Video content, when added, will include closed captions and, where appropriate, a text transcript.
If you encounter any barrier on this website — a form you cannot complete, a document you cannot open with your assistive technology, a page you cannot navigate, or content presented in a way that is not usable — please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility requests within five business days. For time-sensitive matters (voting, shareholder meeting logistics), we respond as soon as reasonably possible.
We audit this site using a combination of automated tools (axe, Lighthouse, Wave), keyboard-only navigation, and screen-reader spot checks (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS). Contrast ratios are verified against WCAG 2.1 AA targets (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text). Color-only conveyance is explicitly avoided.
When we ship a new feature or content page, it must pass the same baseline before it goes live.
